Camrose County Nature Conservation Centre - Official Opening, July 31, 2010

About 325 people joined Premier Stelmach and Reeve Gregorwich officially open the Nature Centre.  The day started with a Premier's reception hosted by Camrose County at the County Office.  Those in attendance included municipal elected officials, MLA's, Camrose Chamber of Commerce, and past Camrose County Councillors.   The Nature Centre opening included train rides, beef on a bun, tours.   The park gates will remain open for ALL TO ENJOY!

It's all here - swimming, non motorized boating, scuba diving, fishing, nature walks, bird watching, fire pits, picnics, or just laying around in the sun.  A full family experience. 

 

 

     



So how do you get there:
14.5km east on Highway 13 to Green Grove Road then 8.5 km south to TWP 452 or
11.5km south on Highway 56 to HeatherBrae Hall Road (TWP 452) then east 8km to RGE 195.
    

Camrose County Nature Conservation Centre
General Information

  • Purchased in 1989 from the Blatz and Gilroy Families
  • Area contains 37Acres
  • Approximately 500,000m3 of gravel mined from 1989 – 2007
  • 1991 Motion made by Vic McCarroll for Blatz Pit to be made into a fish pond and Picnic\Camping Area at time of reclamation
  • Last Crushing contract 2007 - Robertson Construction for 130,000 m3
  • Public Works Presented 3 Options to Council – option “A” Cost to Reclaim, option “B” and option “C” Cadillac Option
  • Council approved option “B” August 11, 2009
  • Design – Genivar Engineering - $52,300.00
  • Bridge Design – Mpa Engineering
  • Pedestrian Bridge extra cost - $30,766.70 plus installation by Eagle Bridge, Kitchener, Ontario
  • Earthwork and furniture installation $392,755.00 – Prentise Creek Contracting
  • Public Works – Docks, Bridge installation, culverts, flower gardens, signs, culverts
  •  Fencing by Nichols Fencing
  • County Ag. Department - Trees, Seeding, Fish Stocking,  Ackenberry Trout Farms
  • Construction Budget $392,755.00
  • Contingency $191,334.00
  • Maintenance Costs are unavailable at this time and will be available 2011 year end
